National Museum of American Religion

Overview:

In collaboration with a partner, Hunter Ferre, I designed a proposal for a National Museum of Religion in Washington, D.C, which is an up-and-coming group dedicated to preserving religious history and continuing conversations on religious freedom. We chose a Greek Revival style, which we felt fit with the vision of the founding fathers for D.C., and echoed ideas of democracy and freedom of speech. We studied a book called The Antiquities of Athens, a series of books written by archaeologists who studied ancient Greek sites, and produced measured drawings on plates. These resources helped us to ensure we used historically accurate proportions and design. My contributions for the project mainly focused on Revit modeling, developing elevations, designing ornamentation, site planning, creating perspective views, and producing a watercolor analytique. My partner, Hunter, worked hard mainly on programming, refining floor plans, drafting, and code analysis.
